What’s in an SLO? The Student Learning outcomes are an integral part of our courses.
This class has five Student Learning Outcomes and we have covered them in a myriad
of ways. For this assignment you can select up to three SLOs and discuss how we
have met the learning outcomes.
You can use up to two topics per learning outcome to explain how we have:
● Assessed the role of popular culture and countercultures in defining Asian
American identity.
● Analyzed the creation and evolution of popular culture through the lens of
anti-colonialism, anti-racism, and equity for Asian Americans.
● Analyzed the intersections of culture, race, and identity in Asian American
creative expression.
● Applied theory and knowledge produced by Asian American communities in
order to describe pop culture connections to their histories, contributions,
oppression, and agency.
● Evaluated pop culture representations of Asian Americans engaged in racial
and social justice and their relevance to current and structural issues.
As stated above this assignment is 4-5 pages or a minimum of 1000 words. You can
select one SLO and use your whole paper to discuss that SLO, two SLOs and split your
1000 words in half or (at most) three SLO’s, allotting an average of 350 words per SLO
discussed.
To repeat, you are to use the course material, topics that we have covered (only 2
topics per SLO) to explain how we have met the learning outcome.
