2 Revised Study Plan

Introduction

Testing is crucial to every student. They reflect how much knowledge the student has on the

tested topic. Upon graduation, every Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student

must take and pass a licensing board exam to be allowed to practice. We have all been studying

hard to attain the degree, and we can show our competence by passing the board exam. Test-

taking skills are vital in preparation for these exams. With these skills, one can succeed despite

having a good knowledge of the subject matter. The purpose of this paper is to reflect on and

revise the study plan I planned last semester. I identified my strengths and weakness and

reflected on my overall test-taking regarding allotted time comfort and question format.

Strengths and opportunities

A study plan is an organized schedule outlining study times and learning goals. After

taking the practice test question last time, I developed a study plan schedule by sets aside

dedicated time each week for studying. This schedule includes dates of quizzes, and tests, as well

as deadlines for papers and projects. The strength of the study plan previously created is that it is

individualized, with objectives aimed at assisting one in an area of weakness. Another strength

of the study plan is its comprehensiveness – it includes almost all the relevant and necessary

medication management topics within the scope of the student’s learning.

To facilitate reading and learning, the study plan was designed. The most effective way to

maximize learning in a subject is to adjust or revise a study plan when a weakness is identified.

The weakness with the previous study plan is the lack of time frame. Despite the study plan’s

strengths, I noticed that the time frame for completing each learning activity was not considered,

which calls for improvement. Including the timetable and timeframe I intend to devote to

learning activities in my next study plan would be helpful. Numerous resources are available, but

not enough time to study them all. Designing a study plan with a time frame ensures that the

right resources are used for learning and maximizes the amount of time spent learning.

SMART goals

Preparing for the Board certification test is critical in determining whether one deserves

the right to practice. Passing in one sitting is very important to me. I have developed six tools to

help me succeed, which are realistic and vital. Test banks and review questions for the board

exam should be practiced several times. My study sessions will be determined by reviewing the

weakest subject and taking a sample test question.

1. GOAL: Recognizing clinical signs and symptoms of psychiatric illnesses in all age

groups by the end of the Winter session.

Objective: Create flashcards and study them for at least 30 minutes every night

before bed. Research on one-two psychiatric diagnosis weekly.

2. GOAL: Learn different Disease management across the life Span in mental health

settings

Objective: My knowledge needs to be updated by searching for peer-reviewed

publications and textbooks online, I will research at least four hours daily on different

diagnosis daily.

3. Goal: Learn the role of a Psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner in Medications

Management.

Objective: Morning. I will also investigate two or more medications and how they can be

adjusted based on my findings daily. I will make flashcards and study them for at least 15

minutes every.

It is essential to measure progress when learning. I will answer comprehension questions to

assess my understanding of my SMART goals. To gauge understanding, I will use the following

scales: 1-5 (poor understanding), 6-10 (good understanding), and 11-15 (excellent

understanding). Answering these questions will allow me to identify my strengths and

weaknesses and areas for improvement.

Resources used to accomplish the goals and tasks.

The entire course necessitates the use of various study resources. I intend to join an

existing study group and review course or form a new one with my friends, and our goal is to

meet regularly to discuss the learning activities we are doing. The purpose of study groups is to

encourage members to think creatively and develop strong communication skills, which improve

their understanding. I will also review the course materials, including textbooks, articles, Walden

Library, and practice guides. To gain a deeper understanding of the topic. I will also use reliable

online sources and nursing and medical knowledge databases, such as Google Scholar,

PROQUEST, and MEDLINE. The sources provide meaningful research papers from which

accurate conclusions can be drawn based on professionally executed experiments. Multiple

resources must be used to gain the most understanding of a subject.
