TOPIC: PAINITING SEASHELLS AND PINECONES

As you have learned this week, human beings have always had the need to create art, and you are no different. Moreover, one of the best ways to truly appreciate great artwork created by others is to attempt to make it ourselves.

For this assignment, you’ll create a work of art. You have a variety of choices, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, metalwork, glass, wood carving, jewelry, clothing (or any textile), 3D printing, and many others. The main rule is that it must be a physical, tangible object that you create by yourself, or in collaboration with friends or family.

Music, poetry, photography, digital art, and anything generated by artificial intelligence are not allowed for this assignment. After completing the work of art, write a brief reflection of at least 300 words, in which you respond to these questions:

  • What was your process like? How did you decide what to create?
  • What was the most enjoyable part? What was the most challenging part?
  • How did this experience affect the greater appreciation for the art you’ve been learning about in this class?

Submission Requirements

  • At least two photos of the work of art–more than two is fine. One of the photos should show you in the process of creating the work of art, and another should show you alongside the finished work. Insert them into a Word document.
  • Write your reflection above, below, or alongside the photos.
  • Include your name, the name of the class, and the date of submission. There is no need for a separate title page or References page for this assignment.
