This Assignment:

Consider the following after reading Swift’s work of satire.

· Why would Swift write such a proposal?

· Is satire an effective form of writing to offer social criticism?

· Give a modern day example of satire in our world today.

· Give two classmates a rhetorical critique of their work.

 


Requirements:

· No essay required

· An introduction is required

· A summary is required

· A thesis statements required

· 2 rhetorical posts to classmates

 

1A. Write an introduction with background information on Swift and another modern day Satirist in today’s world.
 This is not the summary.

1B. Write a summary (as defined in module 4) covering Swift’s Proposal.

1C. Following the summary prepare the related thesis statement using this model:

 “Although the effectiveness of Swift and other Satirists is up for debate, Swift’s purpose for his proposal can be explained by three points such as (point #1), (point #2), and (point #3).”

 

After posting your response to this assignment, place the required critiques for two classmates.  Make sure comments to classmates are a brief rhetorical analysis of their post.  DO NOT COMMENT ON THE SUBJECT MATTER, instead analyze how your classmate’s post followed instructions, met the structural requirements of the assignment, and give examples of each. 

Do not use first person or second person in your response.  (No: I, me, my, we, us, our, mine, you, your, etc…)  Use MS Word to initially type your response.  Double space the entire response.  Then copy and paste from MSWord to the assignment text box.
